Reluctant Hero

A classic fantasy protagonist archetype where the main character is forced into heroism despite their fears, flaws, or initial resistance. Unlike traditional heroes, reluctant heroes often deny their destiny, resist responsibility, or struggle with self-doubt, making their growth, eventual acceptance, and triumph more compelling.

📖 Book Example: The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien – Bilbo Baggins wants nothing to do with adventure but is unwillingly swept into a grand quest, slowly embracing his courage along the way.
